Why Orbih, Shaibu, Adjoto, Others Are Ganging Up Against Obaseki

At a meeting of the PDP’s Legacy Group, senior party members from Edo North expressed dissatisfaction with Governor Godwin Obaseki’s approach to the upcoming governorship poll.

Led by Vice Chairman South-South Dan Orbih, former Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, and ex-Speaker Kabiru Adjoto, the group denounced the current PDP leadership under Obaseki and his preferred candidate, Asue Ighodalo.

They declared that the PDP Legacy Group would support a candidate who truly represents the people of Edo.

Orbih renounced his membership in the PDP campaign council, stating that Obaseki had abandoned the group that had worked for his re-election.

Shaibu condemned the impeachment attempt against him and received the group’s support. He emphasized that Edo needs a homegrown candidate and pledged allegiance to the Legacy Group.

Adjoto criticized Obaseki’s management of the PDP’s victory in 2020, claiming that he had neglected those who had contributed to it.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor Marvellous Omobayo expressed confidence in the PDP’s victory, pledging that his Akoko-Edo constituency would deliver 80% of its votes to Ighodalo.

He praised Obaseki for appointing Akoko-Edo natives to key positions and called for support for the governor’s vision of empowering the youth. CONTINUE READING
