A university lecturer has sparked controversy by threatening to fail his entire class if they fail to locate or replace his missing phone.
During an “Introduction to Computer Science” session at Custom Campus, the unnamed lecturer reportedly left his Tecno Spark 10 Pro smartphone on his desk during a lecture. Upon returning, he discovered that the phone was missing.
In an attempt to retrieve his device, the lecturer has threatened to impose academic sanctions on all students if the phone is not returned. “If you took my phone, return it,” he pleaded. “If you don’t bring back my phone, then I’ll punish all of you.”
The threat extends to students from the School of Computer Science and Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and the School of Applied Sciences. The lecturer has demanded that each student contribute 3,000 South Sudanese Pounds (KSh 3,000) for a replacement phone with 16GB of RAM and 256GB storage capacity.
This demand has sparked outrage among students, who recall a similar incident from the previous year. “He ordered us to contribute money to buy him a trouser or face failing our exams,” one student claimed.
The university administration has yet to comment on the situation, but students are expressing their concerns and demanding a resolution. CONTINUE READING
