Peter Obi has denounced the raid on the National Secretariat of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) by security forces.
As previously reported, armed operatives stormed the NLC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday night, seizing books and publications under the guise of searching for material related to the #EndBadGovernance protests.
NLC spokesperson Benson Upah condemned the invasion, demanding the withdrawal of troops and threatening a nationwide strike if the safety of its members was not guaranteed.
Obi, through his media aide Yunusa Tanko, denounced the late-night raid as an intimidation tactic. He emphasized that the NLC, as a body representing the rights of Nigerian workers, is accessible and would have cooperated with any legitimate inquiries.
“Invading their offices after hours is an attempt to intimidate them,” Tanko stated. “This has no place in a democrac.
