Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has denounced the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s (FCTA) demolition of properties belonging to Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, valued at over N11 billion.
Ukachukwu has accused Nyesom Wike, Minister of FCT, of ordering the demolition without a valid court order, despite two pending court orders prohibiting such actions. The businessman has appealed to President Bola Tinubu for intervention to protect his investments.
Wike has maintained that the land allocated to Ukachukwu lacked ministerial approval. He also cited rampant land-grabbing in Abuja due to compromised officials in the land department of his ministry.
Iwuanyanwu condemned the demolition, stating that Ukachukwu has made significant contributions to Abuja’s development. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of Igbos to the city’s growth.
Iwuanyanwu urged the Igbo Community Assembly Abuja to suspend its planned protest and allow him to intervene. He expressed concern about potential violence and property damage.
Hon. Ositadinma Nwoye, Chairman of the Igbo Community Assembly Abuja, condemned the demolition, claiming that the FCTA failed to provide supporting documents despite being presented with the necessary paperwork. The Assembly had previously issued a one-week ultimatum to Wike, which was ignored. They agreed to suspend their protest plans pending Iwuanyanwu’s guidance. CONTINUE READING
