Nurse Jailed For 6 Years For Cooking Husband With Hot Water

A Tamale High Court has sentenced 28-year-old Zeinab Muhammad Ali, a nurse at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, to six years in prison with hard labor for committing assault.

Ali, the mother of two, poured boiling water on her husband, 42-year-old civil engineer Rayan Yussif, causing severe injuries. The incident stemmed from a misunderstanding over Yussif’s refusal to allow his wife to drive his car to work.

Following her arrest, Ali was charged under Section 69 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act (Act 29) for causing harm. She initially pleaded not guilty, but after a trial, the court found her guilty and convicted her.

The victim, Yussif, was initially admitted to the Tamale Teaching Hospital but has since been transferred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for specialized treatment. CONTINUE READING
