Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, the Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Presidential Campaign Coordinator for Zamfara State, has strongly criticized Minister of State for Defence Bello Mohammed Matawalle for his disparaging remarks about the Northern Elders Forum (NEF).
Marafa stated that the NEF is not a burden or a political hindrance to the North, as claimed by Matawalle. He emphasized that insulting the region’s elders, who played a pivotal role in securing victory for the Tinubu presidency, is detrimental and disrespects the president.
Marafa highlighted that President Tinubu values the support and loyalty of his appointees, not sycophancy or reckless statements. He urged Matawalle to focus on listing the administration’s accomplishments in the North and nationwide rather than making negative comments about the NEF.
“These individuals are known as Northern Elders, and insulting them is akin to insulting the entire region,” Marafa asserted. “Moreover, it is against our cultural norms to disrespect elders.”
Marafa, who played a significant role in the APC’s formation and early leadership, emphasized that Tinubu highly regards the North and its people. He clarified that Matawalle’s views do not represent the president or the presidency.
“I urge the public to dismiss Matawalle’s personal opinion as such,” Marafa concluded. “It is imperative to safeguard the interests of the North and its elders, as their support remains crucial for the success of the Tinubu presidency.” CONTINUE READING
