According to SaharaReporters, former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello is reportedly attempting to bribe judges presiding over his alleged fraud and money laundering case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
This information was allegedly leaked through a WhatsApp group chat named “Only Ododo 4 Const,” which includes close allies and Commissioners in Kogi State. The EFCC has declared Bello wanted for allegedly misappropriating over N80 billion in public funds.
According to leaked conversations, Evangelist Kinsley Fanwo, former Commissioner for Information and Communications, claimed that Bello had informed him of his plan to bribe the judges. Fanwo stated that Bello had converted funds from naira to dollars to make the bribe more appealing.
Fanwo allegedly said, “My honorable, no fear 0o. Ogah is on top of his game, l spoke with him and he told me that he has converted the entire money to dollars he don get who go help am deliver to those judges.”
Abdullahi Bello, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, reportedly confirmed that the party was preparing to facilitate a meeting between Bello and the judges.
The EFCC has filed 19 criminal counts against Bello, including charges of criminal breach of trust and money laundering. The charges allege that Bello converted over N80 billion of Kogi State government funds to his personal use and used proceeds of crime to acquire property.
