Kogi Assembly To Impeach Governor Ododo

Human rights attorney Deji Ajare has urged Umar Yusuf, Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Usman Ododo. Ajare alleges that Ododo has engaged in misconduct and abuse of office.

In a letter to Yusuf, Ajare states that Ododo’s use of the governor’s motorcade to transport former governor Yahaya Bello to safety constitutes harboring a wanted person, obstructing justice, and misusing public funds.

Ajare further calls on the assembly to “cooperate with the EFCC and ensure all individuals involved are available for questioning and investigations.”

According to Ajare, Ododo’s actions, if proven true, amount to “gross misconduct” and warrant investigation and impeachment. He urges the assembly to initiate an inquiry under Section 188 of the Nigerian Constitution to ascertain the truth and hold Ododo accountable.

However, Mohammed Yabagi, Chief Press Secretary to the House of Assembly Speaker, denied receiving such a letter. He also stated that the assembly has not witnessed any evidence of Ododo obstructing security agencies.
