Kano Governor And Counterparts Arrive United States For Northern Governor’s Symposium

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State and his counterparts from Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, and Plateau have convened in the United States for a high-powered symposium organized by the US Institute of Peace.

Spanning three days, the conference aims to tackle insecurity in Northern Nigeria and explore innovative mitigation strategies. The intensive discussions will provide governors with deep insights into security threats, their socioeconomic implications, and immediate opportunities for restoring stability.

The US Institute of Peace will facilitate knowledge-sharing on conflict prevention, emphasizing non-violent approaches to engaging armed groups as an alternative to conflict resolution. Dr. Joseph Sany, Vice President of the Institute’s Africa Center, will lead the strategic engagement, focusing on policy coordination and managing peace and stability in Nigeria.
