Pro-Nyesom Wike lawmakers by Martin Amaewhule have halted all expenditures by the Rivers State Governor until Siminalayi Fubara presents his budget to the House.
This decision follows a seven-day ultimatum given to the Governor by the House last Monday to present his budget.
Major Jack, the Leader of the House, raised the motion, informing the assembly about the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum for the governor to present the 2024 budget.
After deliberation, the House voted to freeze the Rivers State Consolidated Revenue Account, effectively preventing Governor Fubara’s administration from spending any money on behalf of the state.
