Emmanuel Victor, the suspect who featured in a viral video depicting the killing of Emmanuel Uche, a student of Abia State University Uturu (ABSU), has confessed to the crime.
Victor, a 500-level Optometry student at ABSU, was apprehended alongside 110 other suspects in Umuahia on Sunday by the Abia State Police Command.
“I killed Emmanuel Uche,” Victor acknowledged. He explained that a rival cult group confronted them to retrieve a phone they had previously taken.
“We told them to return later, but one of Emmanuel’s members escalated the situation, so I shot him in the leg,” Victor stated. He expressed regret for his actions.
According to the Police, Victor’s capture was the result of a viral video that surfaced on March 11, 2024, showing the murder of Emmanuel Uche.
The Abia Police Command also announced the arrest of 110 other suspects for various offenses between January 2024 and the present date. These include 108 males and 3 females.
“We have rescued 9 abducted children, arrested 16 pregnant women attempting to engage in child trafficking, rescued kidnap victims, and rape victims,” said Commissioner of Police Kenechukwu Onwumelie.
The Command highlighted a notable case involving three men who posed as EFCC officers and robbed students at gunpoint. The suspects were apprehended, and four stolen phones and a tricycle used in the crime were recovered.
CP Onwumelie emphasized the Command’s progress in reducing armed robbery, kidnapping, vandalism, child trafficking, and other crimes. He added that several cases have been charged to court, with successful prosecutions. CONTINUE READING
