Nigerian skit maker and actress Maryam Apaokagi, known as Taaooma, has acknowledged that fame inevitably invites criticism. She has developed a thick skin to negative comments and believes it’s a common experience for celebrities.
Taaooma recently faced criticism for a viral photo of her being carried by colleagues. In an interview with Punch, she expressed her indifference to the backlash, saying, “I am not surprised by the criticisms… We are in the public eye, and things like that should not surprise us.”
She emphasized the importance of collaboration for success in the creative industry. Her recent collaborations have expanded her audience beyond Africa.
Regarding the impact of working with American acts like Terry Crews and King Bachelor, Taaooma stated, “I have achieved some of the goals I set for myself… This is a great catalyst for myself and my career.”
She hinted at future collaborations but declined to provide details. Taaooma remains determined to pursue her dreams and anticipates further successes through partnerships and hard work.
