Rivers Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, has expressed profound grief on social media over the tragic loss of Inspector Sunday Baba, who was killed in an attack by assailants.
During the attack, Baba’s phone continuously rang. Upon examination, it was discovered that he had received 59 missed calls, 51 of which were from his wife.
Disu shared his condolences on X, writing:
“Last night, Inspector Sunday Baba, an exemplary police officer from Rumuolumeni in Rivers State, made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty. His bravery will never be forgotten.
Tragically, his phone revealed the heartbreaking tale of 59 missed calls, with 51 from his wife. We had the somber duty of delivering this devastating news to her.
Being a police officer means leaving home with the uncertainty of returning alive. Those who target police officers are attacking the very guardians of our society.
Let us honor the sacrifices of our fallen officers and ensure that their sacrifices are not in vain.
Goodbye, Sunday. Rest in peace, fallen hero. Our police family mourns your loss. #UltimateSacrifice”
