Dr Shuaibu Joga Joga, Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), confirmed the tragic news in a notice sent to members on July 2, 2024.
According to the notice, the incident occurred on June 23, 2024, while Dr Gimba was away on an official assignment in Kano. The kidnappers reached out to the family demanding the ransom, and despite negotiations with security agencies, the kidnappers brutally killed the first son to pressure the family into paying the exorbitant amount.
In response to the heinous act, the NMA Kaduna has called for an emergency meeting and a press conference to demand immediate action from the authorities. They have also urged members to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as they work to secure the release of the remaining family members and another doctor who was kidnapped six months ago.
