Zacchaeus Adangor, the former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Rivers State, has declined his redeployment as Commissioner for Special Duties. He has subsequently resigned from the state executive council.
Adangor’s resignation follows his earlier resignation as Attorney-General on December 14th due to a feud between Governor Sim Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike. However, Adangor and other resigned commissioners were later reinstated by the state House of Assembly.
Governor Fubara recently reshuffled his cabinet, reassigning Adangor to the Special Duties portfolio. In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Adangor rejected the new appointment.
Adangor, a close associate of Wike, accused Governor Fubara of interfering with his duties as Attorney-General in his resignation letter. He stated that the interference made it impossible for him to effectively carry out his responsibilities.
