Major General Hassan Taiwo Dada, Force Commander of Operation Udoka, has revealed the military’s strategy to end the ‘sit at home’ order imposed by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant wing, ESN.
Dada stated that the military and security forces exposed the criminal nature of IPOB’s actions, convincing the public that the military was not their adversary. He emphasized that the losses incurred every Monday due to the order were significant, and that most Igbo people desired to continue their business activities freely.
The Force Commander highlighted that IPOB’s victims were the same Easterners they claimed to protect. He denounced the group’s use of violence, kidnapping, and rituals against innocent civilians.
Dada noted that it required meticulous planning, consistency, and willpower from troops and security agencies to address the IPOB menace and other security challenges. He emphasized the right to protest but condemned the disruption of people’s livelihoods.
To gain public support, Operation Udoka conducted non-kinetic initiatives such as medical outreaches, humanitarian aid, educational assistance, and sanitation efforts. These actions fostered trust and enhanced intelligence gathering.
Dada reiterated the military’s commitment to restoring peace and prosperity to the South East. He emphasized neutrality and the importance of adhering to laws and rules of engagement in dealing with crime, regardless of ethnicity.
The Force Commander urged the media to scrutinize propaganda from criminal elements and highlight the negative consequences of their actions on education and youth development. CONTINUE READING
