Emirate Tussle In Kano: Salman Dogo Garbo Takes Over As Commissioner Of Police

Amid the ongoing emirate dispute in Kano State, Salman Dogo Garbo has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police.

Upon assuming office, Garbo pledged to prioritize the security of life and property in the state.

During a farewell ceremony for the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Husani Gumel, who has been promoted to Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Garbo emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Officers and Men of the Kano Police Command and the general public.

Gumel, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the officers and men for their support during his tenure and urged them to extend the same cooperation to the new CP. He attributed his success in Kano to the bond he shared with his team.

AIG Gumel also advised the Officers and Men to support Garbo in achieving the set objectives.

Notably, the former Commissioner of Police had recently defied Governor Abba Yusuf’s order to evict Ado Bayero, the dethroned Emir, from the Nasarawa palace. Instead, Gumel provided additional security to Bayero and his successor, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
