The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has alleged that 58 former governors misappropriated, embezzled, or laundered approximately N2.187 trillion over a 25-year period.
This staggering sum excludes seized properties worldwide and ongoing investigations, which amount to billions of Naira. The stolen N2.2 trillion is equivalent to the combined budgets of Lagos State and all the South-East states for 2024. It also exceeds the budgets of the North-Central and North-East states by several billion Naira.
