Edo Police Nab 21 Suspects In Crime Crackdown

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended 21 individuals for various criminal offenses across the state. Commissioner of Police Funsho Adegboye presented the suspects to the press at the command headquarters on April 23, 2024.

“This has been a successful period in our efforts to apprehend criminals,” CP Adegboye stated. “These arrests, made within the last two weeks, aim to ensure the safety and security of Edo citizens.”

The suspects face charges of armed robbery, cultism, attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms, conspiracy, pipeline vandalism, burglary, theft, drug trafficking, and inciting communal unrest.

Among the suspects are Ovie Samuel (46), Stanley Itota (45), Felix Oputi (46), Kadiri Hassan (45), and Alex Akaeze, who were found with 1,080 kilograms of ICE (methamphetamine), valued at N20 million in street value.

Ahead of the upcoming governorship elections, CP Adegboye urged parents to caution their children, particularly university students, against being exploited by politicians.

“We implore the public to warn their wards, especially young people, to avoid becoming pawns in the hands of unscrupulous individuals,” he said. “Their children are not involved, so why should they allow our youth to be used?”

CP Adegboye expressed gratitude for the support from the Edo community and appealed to all stakeholders to continue providing crucial information to assist the police in combating crime and criminality in the state. CONTINUE READING
