Edo Election: Akpabio, Oshiomhole, Sanwo-Olu, Shaibu, Others Get New Appointments (Full List)

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a 197-member campaign council ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State. The list was released on Wednesday by APC National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu.

It was gathered that Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu chairs the council and aims to lead the party’s campaign efforts. Notable members include Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda as co-chairman, former Edo Governor and APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole as deputy chairman, and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as assistant secretary.

The council also includes Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other governors elected on the APC platform.

Notably, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo, Philip Shaibu, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, is also a council member.

The APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, will face candidates from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, Asue Ighodalo, and the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata, in the upcoming election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Edo State governorship election for September 21, 2024.
