On April 9, 2024, around 11 pm, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Alausa, CSP Abaniwonda Tokunbo, was attacked by three gangs of armed robbers on the Otedola Bridge in Lagos.
During a sting operation, Tokunbo was confronted by the assailants, who were armed with cutlasses and other weapons. They assaulted her, injuring her back with a machete wound. The robbers stole her Samsung S22 phone and fled.
Lagos Police Public Relation Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident. Through diligent police work, key suspects were arrested.
The ring leader, Tochuckwu Nonso alias ‘Thug life’, and his accomplice, Chidera Christopher, were apprehended at a hotel in Akute, Ogun State. Another suspect, Richard Etim, was arrested in a separate location.
The investigation revealed that the robbers forcibly took Tokunbo’s phone and inflicted the machete wound before escaping. CONTINUE READING
