On May 30th, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have declared a sit-at-home day throughout the Southeast region.
The purpose of the sit-at-home is to honor Biafran heroes who lost their lives during the civil war from 1967 to 1970.
IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful has instructed schools, government offices, private businesses, banks, transportation unions, market associations, and individuals to cease all operations on Thursday, May 30th.
In a statement, Powerful said, “We, the global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra… declare Thursday, May 30, 2024 a sit-at-home day in Biafra Land.”
He explained that the day is a memorial to “remember the men and women who died that we may live.”
All Biafrans are urged to observe the sit-at-home in respect for the fallen heroes.
Exceptions to the directive include nurses, doctors, ambulance services, hospitals, medical workers, and individuals on essential duties.
Christians and traditional worshippers are encouraged to pray for the fallen heroes and for Biafra’s independence.
The Heroes Remembrance Day is a reminder of the sacrifices made by Biafrans during the war and a call to duty to honor their legacy. CONTINUE READING
