The Department of State Services (DSS) cautions the public against planned protests scheduled for tomorrow, June 12. DSS spokesperson Dr. Peter Afunanya (Ph.D.) emphasized that violence and disruption of law and order will not be tolerated.
“The DSS has received information about plans by individuals and groups to stage protests in various locations across the country on June 12. These protests are intended to coincide with Democracy Day celebrations and have sinister objectives.”
“While citizens have the constitutional right to assemble and express themselves, these freedoms cannot be exercised in a manner that threatens public safety or national security. Incitement to mass disaffection through violent demonstrations will not be tolerated.”
“The Federal Government is committed to addressing concerns through peaceful dialogue, including the issue of minimum wage. Citizens are urged to refrain from participating in unlawful activities or causing disorder.”
“The DSS will take all necessary measures to protect the nation from subversive acts aimed at destabilizing law and order. We will collaborate with other security agencies to maintain peace and safeguard lives and property.”
“Law-abiding citizens are encouraged to go about their normal activities without fear. Grievances should be channeled through appropriate channels and procedures.”
