A horrific accident in Kogi State on Sunday has resulted in the tragic loss of 25 lives. The incident occurred at Aloma in Ofu Local Government Area, involving a Toyota Sienna bus, a Toyota Hiace bus, and an articulated vehicle.
Witnesses reported that the vehicles collided while attempting to avoid a pothole on the road. The impact caused an immediate fire that engulfed the Sienna and Hiace buses, trapping and killing all occupants.
Another witness stated that a parked articulated vehicle nearby was also consumed by the flames. A house close to the accident site was also damaged in the blaze.
“We haven’t heard of any survivors, except those in the parked articulated vehicle,” said Adejo Usman, a resident of Aloma.
The villagers were unable to assist the trapped passengers due to the lack of firefighting equipment.
