APC Withdrawal Trails Delta LG Polls

Protest withdrawal by the major opposition political party, All Progressives Congress, APC is trailing the local government council elections in several parts of Delta state.

In Uvwie, the local government of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Chairman of the APC, Mr Illeleji Wilfred released a statement announcing withdrawal of the party from the election, saying his party would not participate in an alleged skewed electoral exercise.

A leader of the APC in Warri south West local government area , Mr Alex Eyengho also alleged in a telephone chat with the Vanguard that the exercise was a shame.

A chieftain of the party in Warri North, Mr Sunny Mene also called the Vanguard at about 11am to complain that they had not seen Officers of the Delta state Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC in Koko, headquarters of Warri north local government area, adding that they were at the DSIEC but the place was allegedly locked.

In Ughelli north the APC also cited alleged manipulation of the exercise in favour of the ruling party to pull out of the exercise.

The chairman of the party, Hon. Obakpororo Onoabedje and the Secretary,Barr. (Mrs.) Beauty Ubogun-Nze , at a media parley on the eve of the election also announced withdrawal of the party from the exercise.

Voting in Eku (ward 15)

In Eku Ethiope East local government area, voting materials arrived at about 1030am with voters casting their votes.

Low turn of voters seem to be trailing the exercise in several places visited so far in Warri , Uvwie and Agbarho
