Gunmen have attacked Akoko communities in Ondo North Senatorial District of Ondo State and killed two motorcyclists popularly known as okada riders.
The gunmen also attacked another motorcyclist along Leo Road in Akure, the state capital, and snatched his motorcycle at gunpoint.
One of the victims was 28-year-old Dada Jatto, who was killed in Iyani-Akoko in the Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of the state.
Jatto had been reportedly missing for the past three days. The search efforts led to the discovery of his mutilated body and the damaged phone without his motorcycle at a spot very close to Arigidi along Okeagbe road.
The second incident involved an Okada rider, who is a Northerner, whose assailant lured to a hideout between Ikare and Arigidi and used a hammer to smash his head.
Before he died in an undisclosed hospital, he managed to describe his assailant and the person that stole his motorbike. However, luck ran against his assailant as vigilant security agents arrested him with the motorcycle at Akunu-Akoko, a border town of Kogi State.
Residents of Iyani-Akoko Northwest Local Government have been thrown into serious mourning over the untimely death of Jatto, a father of two whom they described as a highly diligent and hardworking young man.
