Nigerians Are Protesting Because They Didn’t Vote For Tinubu – Dr. Adetokunbo Speaks

In an analysis by Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a public affairs expert and Convener of Reset Lagos, the electoral performance of President Bola Tinubu was scrutinized. Pearse suggested that Tinubu’s success in the northern regions was attributed to strategic political alliances. However, his support in the southern areas, aside from the South-West, was notably weaker.

Pearse expressed skepticism about the legitimacy of Tinubu’s victory, as he was declared the winner with only 31% of the votes counted. He argued that Nigerians are aware of the current government’s shortcomings and questioned the validity of Tinubu’s triumph.

Pearse emphasized that Nigerians should not be held accountable for Tinubu’s election, as he did not receive substantial popular support. His comments stemmed from the claim that Nigeria should have progressed significantly, but ongoing ethnic and religious tensions continue to hinder unity.

In Pearse’s words, “Tinubu’s political skills secured him support in the north. However, the south was not as favorable. He gained four out of six states in the South-West. Only Obi managed to secure the support of his entire tribe. Nigerians are aware of the government’s poor performance and the questionable nature of Tinubu’s victory. Do not blame Nigerians; they did not vote for him.”
