Dele Momodu, celebrity journalist and social commentator, has weighed into the rift between his niece and Afrobeat megastar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.
Sophia, Davido’s first baby mama and Momodu’s niece, has been in the news since she filed a counter suit against her daughter’s father over custody of their child.
Shortly before his wedding, Davido had dragged Sophia before a Lagos High Court, seeking custody of their child.
He had made different accusations against Sophia, saying she was using the child as an avenue to frustrate and exploit him.
But in her response, Sophia denied the allegation, saying the music star turned his back against her and their child when she rejected his request for sexual favour.
She also asked the court not to grant Davido’s request, saying since he was married to another woman, she did not believe her child would get the best under such environment.
In a lengthy post on Saturday, Momodu broke his silence on the issue, narrating the role he played for peace to reign.
“Last night, I received a distressing message from Mr David Adeleke (aka Davido). He was obviously devastated by the counter-affidavit submitted in court, earlier in the day, in response to his affidavit seeking a joint custody of his daughter with my niece Sophia Momodu.”
“I had seen David’s affidavit about two weeks ago and I was very surprised as David and I had spoken on a video call days earlier, with him and Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, and he never told me he had any custody issues with my niece. So you can imagine my confusion to find out via social media and subsequently confirmed by my niece that he had filed an action in court seeking joint custody of their daughter.
“During the referenced video call, we were all very excited about his forthcoming wedding ceremony, an event our family congratulated him about. Prior to this, David had told me he eventually spoke to their daughter, after a long lull of about two years.”JUST IN: Davido didn’t speak with his first child for 2 years – Dele Momodu.
