Posters featuring Senate President Godswill Akpabio as a presidential candidate with former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai as his running mate have emerged in Kaduna.
Despite Akpabio’s previous denials of presidential ambitions, sources close to him indicate otherwise. They suggest that he is positioning himself as a potential successor to President Bola Tinubu, should health concerns prevent Tinubu from completing his term.
Akpabio’s current role as Senate President, considered the third-highest political rank in the country, is believed to give him an edge over other contenders.
