Ajaero Hands Over NLC President To His First Deputy

President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Joe Ajaero has handed over the union’s affairs to his first Deputy Comrade Adewale Adeyanju.

Ajaero who is in Geneva Switzerland for the ongoing International Labour Organization (ILO) conference is expected to resume duty on the 15th of June 2024.

According to a statement signed by the NLC Secretary General, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja dated June 7, 2024, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju was requested to act in the absence of congress president.

The statement noted that “I have been directed to request you to act on his behalf during his absence.”

Adeyanju who is the President General,Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) is expected to lead NLC in any emergency meeting with government from now till Friday 14th June 2024.

Meanwhile, on Monday, 10th June, 2024, the PG was bestowed with the fellowship award of the Institute of Corporate Administration

In a letter of award sent to the PG and signed by Dr. Godswill C. Onyekwera, Director,/Chief Learning Officer, the Institute informed him of his nomination by the Governing Council
for his distinguished professional contribution to public administration

“This is in recognition and appreciation of your dedication and commitment beyond the call to duty, professionalism in service and visionary approach to administrative matters. This offer qualifies you as a senior member of the Institute and entitles you to append the designatory letter FCAI after your name.”

Adeyanju has been bestowed with numerous professional awards since his ascendance into the position of the President General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria.
