Following the demolition of Landmark Beach for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Maryanne Moghalu, wife of former presidential candidate Kingsley Moghalu, issued a caution to investors against investing in Lagos State.
This prompted a response from Woye, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, who threatened to have Moghalu’s wife sent back to her village by informing Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos to investigate her residence for potential environmental violations.
In response, Moghalu’s wife took to social media to dismiss the threat, stating that her residence is located in Enugu, not Lagos. She challenged Woye to carry out his investigation there.
The demolition and subsequent backlash have raised concerns about the impact on property owners and the need for proper compensation. The Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, has assured that compensation will be provided, but details are yet to be disclosed.
