Policeman Kills Himself, Leaves A Letter Behind For His Father

Police in Tororo district are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Constable Ekisa Emmanuel, a 27-year-old police officer stationed at the Iyolwa Police Post in Iyolwa Sub-County.

On April 28, 2024, Constable Ekisa, armed with a rifle and 30 rounds of ammunition, was on duty at the police post. He was reportedly seated at the counter with the Officer in Charge and civilians when he left and entered his room.

Shortly after, a gunshot was heard from his room. The Officer in Charge and others rushed to the room and found Constable Ekisa lying dead on his bed in a pool of blood. His gun was found on his chest, pointing towards his neck, and the safety catch was open.

A declaration letter dated April 18, 2024, was discovered in the room, in which Constable Ekisa expressed his decision to end his life due to stress.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Tororo General Hospital and is scheduled to be transferred to Mbale City Mortuary for post-mortem examination by the Regional Police Surgeon.
