The Sustainable Movement of Nigeria (SNM) has urged President Tinubu to reinstate Dr. Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
SNM claims that Dr. Edu is being unfairly targeted and blackmailed for exposing corruption within the National Social Investment Program Agency (NSIPA). The organization alleges that her suspension came just seven days after she raised concerns about an unauthorized transfer of 44.8 billion naira in 2023.
SNM also alleges that a coordinated social media campaign and internal pressure have been used to influence President Tinubu’s decision to suspend Dr. Edu.
The organization highlights Dr. Edu’s accomplishments in office, including her efforts to combat corruption and irregularities within the ministry.
SNM appeals to President Tinubu to recall Dr. Edu, arguing that she is being persecuted by those involved in the alleged corruption scandal.
SNM maintains that the reason for Dr. Edu’s suspension is inconsequential, as all her projects were legally approved.
The organization claims that Dr. Edu followed established financial regulations in the transfer of 587 million naira, which was managed by a qualifying account and reached its intended beneficiaries.
SNM emphasizes that Dr. Edu strongly supports President Tinubu’s 8-point agenda, which aims to reduce poverty and combat corruption.
SNM believes that reinstating Dr. Edu would help address the significant poverty challenges facing Nigeria and contribute to the success of President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda. CONTINUE READING
