Several individuals seeking travel to Australia have come forward with accounts of being pressured by an Ibadan-based travel agency, “Christy Manpower,” into paying excessive fees totaling millions of naira.
During a prolonged protest in Ibadan, the victims displayed placards with messages such as “Refund Our Money” and “Lost Over N700m to Travel Agent.”
Spokesperson Silas Oyeniran appealed to authorities for assistance in recovering the lost funds and holding the agency accountable. He expressed that the financial loss has had severe repercussions, including untimely deaths and financial distress for many victims.
According to Oyeniran, the victims sought opportunities abroad due to economic challenges in Nigeria. After paying N5 million each, they were promised visas within three months. However, upon further investigation, they discovered that the visas issued were counterfeit. CONTINUE READING
