In a bid to alleviate the economic burden faced by Nigerians, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a significant reduction in the prices of diesel and aviation fuel.
Effective immediately, diesel will be sold at N940 per liter for customers purchasing five million liters or more from the refinery. Customers purchasing one million liters or more will pay N970 per liter.
Aviation fuel has also been reduced to N980 per liter at major airports where MRS Oil and Gas stations operate.
“This price adjustment aligns with our commitment to cushion the effects of economic hardship in Nigeria,” said Anthony Chiejina, Head of Communication at Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
To ensure accessibility, Dangote has partnered with MRS Oil and Gas stations to make fuel available at these reduced prices in all their outlets nationwide.
The company plans to expand its partnership to include other major oil marketers, ensuring that retail buyers do not face exorbitant prices.
This latest reduction marks the third significant price cut in diesel prices by Dangote Petroleum Refinery in less than three weeks. The initial price of N1,700 was first reduced to N1,200, then to N1,000, and now to N940.
President Bola Tinubu has praised Dangote’s efforts, calling it an “enterprising feat.”
Ajayi Kadiri, Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), lauded the move, stating that it demonstrates the potential of local industries to positively impact the economy.
He added that this price reduction will have a far-reaching impact on sectors such as industrial operations, transportation, logistics, and agriculture, contributing to the easing of inflation and the revival of businesses. CONTINUE READING
