Former Kogi State Governor Abdullahi Bello has emphasized the importance of holding elected officials accountable for their actions. He believes there is no justification for those accused of gross abuse of public office to avoid facing the consequences.
In a statement titled “Nigeria Must Work for All Nigerians,” Bello urged former governors and others accused of misappropriating public funds to refrain from using similar cases as excuses. He stressed that politicians holding positions of trust should not resort to blackmail or alibis when facing corruption charges.
Bello highlighted the need for anti-graft agencies to work diligently to bring corrupt individuals to justice. However, he also cautioned against using the perceived lack of diligence as a reason to excuse wrongdoing.
He praised the Tinubu administration for separating politics from government policies and called on Nigerians to support their efforts.
Bello warned that those who have stolen public funds will not escape divine retribution. “Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala is not human,” he stated.
In conclusion, Bello emphasized the importance of national stability, peace, and progress, and expressed his belief that Nigeria can only achieve these goals if its leaders are held accountable for their actions. CONTINUE READING
