Karaga and Rumace communities in Niger State’s Shiroro local government area were attacked by bandits on Friday night, resulting in the deaths of six soldiers, one volunteer hunter, and two farmers.
According to sources, the attack began around 9 pm and continued for several hours. “Six soldiers and one volunteer hunter were killed,” said one source, requesting anonymity.
Mustapha Bassa, another source, stated that the bandits arrived on motorcycles, each carrying three individuals, and fired indiscriminately as they entered the communities. Houses, food banks, and motorcycles were set on fire during the raid.
The attack follows recent attacks on Allawa, Bassa, and Madaka communities in Shiroro and Rafi local government areas, where food supplies, homes, vehicles, and a market worth millions of naira were destroyed.
The Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, was unavailable for comment at the time of this report. CONTINUE READING
