On Saturday, the Nigerian Army announced the successful completion of clearance and search operations in Borno and Nasarawa states, resulting in the elimination of terrorists and the seizure of firearms.
According to a statement released on its official Twitter handle, the operations were conducted in Kana Village, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, and parts of Nasarawa State on April 19, in collaboration with hybrid forces.
During the operation, troops engaged in a gun battle with terrorists near Nguma Village, neutralizing two. They also recovered two AK-47 rifles, a motorbike, six bicycles, and other abandoned items. The clearance operation in the area continues.
In a separate operation, troops acted on intelligence in Nasarawa State and conducted a cordon-and-search operation in Abuni Village, Awe Local Government Area. The operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, two AK-47 magazines, and 35 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition. The weapons were discovered in the residence of Mr. Abdullahi Musa, resulting in the arrest of several suspects.
