Following limited Israeli strikes in Iran’s Isfahan province, a senior Iranian official has stated that Tehran has no immediate plans for retaliation. The strikes targeted an area near the Natanz nuclear facility.
According to the official, who spoke to Reuters, Iran has not received any external attacks and believes the incident may have been infiltration rather than an attack. The official also claimed that the “foreign source of the incident” has not been confirmed.
The Israeli strikes came in response to Iran’s missile and drone attack on Israel last Saturday, which was in retaliation for a suspected Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria.
A military source told Fox News that the Israeli strike on Friday was “limited,” with no U.S. involvement. Sources familiar with the situation confirmed that Israel had pre-notified the U.S.
Iranian state media reported that Iranian air defense systems had shot down three drones over Isfahan. Later, Iranian state television declared all sites in the Natanz area as “fully safe.”
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed on Friday morning that there was no damage to Iran’s nuclear facilities. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi called for restraint and emphasized that nuclear facilities should never be targeted in military conflicts.
