Acknowledging the concerns of party members, Senator Suswam reaffirmed the North Central zone’s commitment to the party’s well-being above individual aspirations. He announced that Omar Damagun would temporarily serve as National Chairman until August, when the National Executive Committee (NEC) would reconvene to nominate a candidate for the permanent position from the North Central zone.
In an interview with Arise News Television, Suswam stated, “We understand that the party is a collective of stakeholders and decision-making bodies. To mitigate potential tension, the National Caucus agreed to extend the Acting Chairman’s tenure for a few more months. A congress will be held, and at the subsequent NEC meeting in August, the appointment of a substantive National Chairman will be addressed. Despite our initial reservations, as loyal party members, we will respect the party’s decision.”
