BREAKING: Zamfara State Implements Media Restrictions

To ensure accurate and consistent communication, the Zamfara State Government has implemented a ban on political officeholders and agency heads from participating in media interviews, issuing statements, or broadcasting programs without prior approval.

As per a statement by Information Commissioner Mannir Haidara, all political officers and agency heads must obtain permission from the Ministry of Information before engaging in public statements. This includes interviews, statements, and broadcasts on radio, television, and social media.

Media organizations operating in Zamfara are prohibited from conducting or broadcasting any radio or television programs related to government policies without the approval of the Ministry of Information. The ministry will monitor radio stations to ensure compliance.

The government has expressed concern over the unauthorized dissemination of information by officials, which can lead to confusion and misinformation. The new regulation aims to centralize communication and ensure that all government-related information is accurate and consistent.
