On Friday, the Nigerian Army released Prince Clement Ikolo Ogenerukevwe, the monarch who had been declared wanted in connection with the deaths of 17 military personnel in Okuama, Delta State.
Army Spokesperson Major-General Onyema Nwachukwu stated that the decision to release the monarch was made after a thorough review and the intervention of influential individuals in society. The army emphasized that it has not exonerated anyone involved in the incident.
Following the killings, the military had launched a manhunt for suspects, including Prince Clement Ikolo Ogenerukevwe, Professor Arthur Ekpekpo, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Akevwru Daniel Omotegbono, Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Reuben Baru, and Igoli Ebi.
Prince Clement Ikolo Ogenerukevwe voluntarily surrendered to the police, who then handed him over to the Army.
