Isaac Fayose, brother of former governor Ayo Fayose, has denounced the humiliating treatment of a crossdresser at a police station.
A viral video shows the crossdresser, Victor John, being interrogated by officers. The officers, apparently disapproving of his lifestyle, recorded the interrogation and ordered him to remove his clothes.
In response to the video, Isaac questions the legality of cross-dressing in Nigeria. He contends that the interrogating officers should be held accountable for violating the crossdresser’s dignity and humiliating him publicly.
His statement reads:
“Is cross-dressing a crime in this country? The police officers who conducted and shared this interrogation should be charged for stripping this man of his dignity and embarrassing a grown man. We may not endorse his lifestyle, but the police violated professional ethics during their public service. The officers’ curiosity may be understandable, but by sharing the video on social media, they are implicitly condoning this behavior for future officers.”
